Transport from Schipol Airport

By train (recommended)
Trains run frequently from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Central Station, as well as to other major stations such as Amsterdam Zuid and Amsterdam Sloterdijk. The journey to Amsterdam Central takes approximately 15–20 minutes.

You can check schedules on the NS website by searching for routes from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal. Tickets can be purchased at the airport (Ticket and Service Desks or yellow ticket machines) or online.

By taxi or app-based ride

Taxis and app-based ride services are available directly outside the arrivals hall. The journey to the city center typically takes 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic. 

Amsterdam Public Transportation

Public transport in Amsterdam is operated mainly by GVB, which provides integrated tram, bus, and metro services across the city. Services run frequently throughout the day and late into the night, with night buses operating after regular services end. 

Payment and tickets: You can use contactless payment (bank card or mobile phone) on buses, trams, and metro. On trams and buses, remember to check in when boarding and check out when exiting by tapping your card or device.

Alternatively, day and multi-day travel tickets are available for unlimited travel on GVB. The Amsterdam Travel Ticket also includes travel between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam.
